Ray Davies has been professionally sailing for over 23 years, spending most of those with Team New Zealand in a variety of roles including strategist, tactician, helmsman, designer and coach.
In 2021 at the 36th America's Cup, Ray led the Emirates Team New Zealand to success as their coach a role he has held previously at the 2017 35th America's Cup, where Ray worked closely with design teams to formulate the boat that won in Bermuda. The team's focus was on speed and performance, creating the first foiling boat and using world leading technology and innovation to power the boat with bicycles and PlayStation controllers.
The new innovations have changed the face of sailing forever and helped modernise what is a very traditional sport.
