Goal setting, Goal Targeting and Goal Achieving
Goal setting and goal pursuit have played a major role in Jemarl’s life over the last couple of years. Having a solid goal setting formula has been instrumental in helping him to achieve some great things, in a short amount of time. But more importantly goal pursuit has helped him to grow internally, giving more direction and purpose within his life.Goal setting, Goal Targeting and Goal Achieving
From resigning as a Professional Firefighter, a position Jemarl had held for almost 20 years. He had no real idea of what he was going to do for work. All he knew is that he wanted to uplift and inspire as many people as he could.
A few months later Jemarl was hosting his own workshops for Rangatahi/Young people from around Auckland re-connecting them back to nature encouraging healthy holistic lifestyle choices and embracing some higher principals.
6 months later they were featured on the 6 o’clock national news, on the back of the success their program with the Rangatahi/Young people.
This set off a chain reaction that had Jemarl and his team working with a number Government Organisations, School and NGOS and continued work with Dave Wood and the Calm Under Pressure workshops. Securing some really impressive contracts but more importantly having an extremely positive impact within their Community.
Through his own goal pursuit journey Jemarl been able to find real purpose, passion and direction in all areas of his life.
Jemarl says that while goal setting and goal pursuit may look slightly different for each one of us. He’s not convinced that it’s one strategy fits all. However, there is one universal truth around this subject and that is peak performers excel at setting meaningful goals and they possess the skills to effectively attain them.
In this goal setting presentation you'll learn about the importance of:
Writing our goals down
Creating a clear definite plan
Long term, mid term and short term goals and the importance of each one
Becoming emotionally connected with our goals
Fears, doubts and worries
Implementing effective timelines and much more.
Goals are not just dreams; they're scientifically proven drivers of human behaviour. The research (psychologists Edwin Locke and Gary Latham) shows that specific and challenging goals lead to higher performance compared to vague or easy goals. In essence, the right kind of goal can ignite our motivation establishing discipline and accountability that guide our actions toward peak performance.
The importance on getting crystal clear on our vision and values
Our values are those principles that guide our decisions and our actions. To achieve peak performance, you must explore your values, identify them, write out definitions of them, take a personal inventory of how well you are living them, and adapt your behaviour accordingly. The importance on getting crystal clear on our vision and values
We can be unethical and achieve great results temporarily. However, sustainable peak performance is about feeling energised and alive, and most people cannot feel those emotions when they are dishonest, feel guilt, shame, and self-hatred. Peak performers are ethical, and peak performance is ethics in action.
Your vision is simply a picture of the future you want to create. You may have a vision for different aspects of your life: family, career, health, hobbies, etc. or you may have an over-arching and all-encompassing vision whatever works for you. Vision, values, and purpose give us courage, direction, and meaning.
Without knowing why we are here, what we believe in, and what we want for our lives, we cannot be a peak performer. What is your passion? We are passionate when we are doing things we are talented at. In our search for our talents we might ask: What do I love to do? When do I feel most alive? What am I doing when time flies by? What do I learn easily?
By the end of this presentation we'll explore why our vision and values are so important when it comes to finding direction, purpose and meaning within your life.
