Back from the brink
From adversity comes transformation. Raised in a household shaped by mental illness, I witnessed firsthand the weight of suffering—losing five close friends and my uncle to suicide. The time for change is now. Mental health isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. Too often, action comes only when crisis hits, but what if we could shift the dial before it’s too late?Leading the Change: Prioritising Mental Health in the Workplace
As a Mental Health First Aid Trainer of Trainers, I empower individuals and teams with the tools to foster resilience, support one another, and build a culture where mental and emotional wellbeing is valued just as much as physical health.
It starts with us. By prioritising our own wellbeing, we create a ripple effect—stronger teams, healthier workplaces, and a future where mental health is at the forefront of success.
Let me show you how.
Self-Care: The Foundation of Thriving Teams
It’s time to shift the mindset—self-care is not selfish; it’s essential. When we prioritise our wellbeing, we show up as better leaders, colleagues, and whānau. A thriving workplace starts with individuals who are physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially well.Self-Care: The Foundation of Thriving Teams
Jase brings the Māori model of Hauora—Te Whare Tapa Whā—to life, offering practical strategies that empower individuals and teams to strengthen their holistic wellbeing. Self-care doesn’t have to be complicated—it just needs to be intentional.
Invest in your people, and watch your workplace thrive. Let’s build a culture where wellbeing isn’t an afterthought—it’s the foundation for success.
The Art of Connection
In a world where engagement is everything, it’s not just what you say—it’s how you say it. Genuine connection inspires action, builds trust, and transforms teams. The Art of Connection

I have worked with Jase over the past two years at various events. He is fantastic to deal with and a wonderful facilitator. He is very engaging and down-to-earth and can adapt his presentation to cater to small and large audiences. He is also able to connect to his audience and they love him. Jase provides practical strategies and skills that everyone can implement into their daily lives. He reiterates the importance of being calm, choosing to respond and not just react.
I have seen Jase speak in three different settings recently; to educators, parents and students. Jase's authenticity and commanding presence constantly win over his audiences, and even those whom I would consider reticent about mindfulness are interested and asking questions by the end of Jase's session. As someone trying to fight for the place of mindfulness in my school, Jase has been a huge asset in establishing the validity and value of mindfulness, particularly as it relates to the Te Whare Tapa Wha model, which we as a school use to guide our wellbeing programme. As an ambassador for this mahi, there is no one better that I have seen.
Jase was truly wonderful and led us through the evening with great skill, verve, grace, and good humour. It is a challenging event to run especially as it involves so many categories and so much traffic directing' of finalists and winners and presenters coming on and off the stage. Plus you had the musicians to direct, the photographer to wait for and the judges to make their speeches. You managed all that so adroitly and intelligently that we actually ended the formalities slightly under the time limit. Ka rawe! You really brought a special touch of magic and aroha to the evening. Many people felt it was the best event for several years, and so thank you for being such a big part of making that happen!
Jase Te Patu was a delight to work with. His calm, down to earth manner made him very relatable with the audience. He was able to get through all the content provided to him while also bringing his own personality and experience into the presentation to bring the ceremony to life. We had a large crowd of 630 guests and he was able to keep them under control and run to time, while also allowing the award winners to savour their moments. I could not recommend Jase as an MC highly enough.
Jase Te Patu is a professional and skilled master of ceremonies. He listened and responded to the needs and intent behind each component of our virtual event and seamlessly adapted each day to changing audiences. His genuine warmth and ability to draw out key insights in ways that everyone could understand and connect with resonated with attendees and had a notably positive impact on their event experience.
We were thrilled to have Jase as our MC for our Awards Dinner. He has great energy, is professional, was adaptable on the night and we received wonderful feedback, particularly around his incorporation of te reo Māori and tikanga. Thank you Jase for making our Awards dinner so special!
Jase delivered a powerful, impactful session for MHAW to our people. The format of starting with his personal story then sharing practical tips on how to implement Te Whare Tapa Whā into our daily lives, works really well.
Jase Te Patu hosted a webinar for our people at MBIE, discussing wellbeing, mindfulness and Mental Health. There has been a huge appetite within MBIE to look at Mental Health through a Te Ao Maori lens, and our people were grateful for the opportunity to hear Jase speak. Over 650 people attended the webinar, with an never-before-seen level of engagement from our people. The chat box was on fire as people were eager to share and engage with Jase as he shared with us his personal journey and wisdom. Since the webinar, we have received many grateful emails and requests to view the webinar recording. Jase is a taonga in the wellbeing space. His advice is simple, profound and practical. Nga mihi nui.
