Broadcaster, board member and councillor James Daniels brings a multi-pronged approach to presenting. The current role in his 45-year broadcasting career is co-host alongside Simon Barnett of Newstalk ZB Afternoons Nationwide where he leads discussions on matters that matter to New Zealanders. Having sat on Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu concurrent with the 19-year period that Ta Mark Solomon chaired the iwi authority he has been closely involved with the establishment of a community, commercially, and culturally significant organisation that has grown a $170m treaty settlement into a $2b powerhouse; during that time he met and negotiated with political and business leaders across the country. He has spent five years on the board of the very successful Ngai Tahu Property Group overseeing developments and investments nationwide and has just finished his term on the board of Te Papa Tongarewa, Museum of New Zealand. In 2019 he was elected by his community into the role of a Christchurch City Councillor until leaving to work at Newstalk ZB.
Off-the-clock he spends much time with his family of five children and his eight mokopuna when not singing cabaret in his trio The Pack Rats or reading non-fiction and biographical books.
