Emily Writes is a mother of two, a popular author, and editor of The Spinoff Parents. Her first book Rants in the Dark - From One Tired Mama To Another shot to the top of the New Zealand charts when it was published in March 2017 by Penguin Random House.
Her first book, Rants in the Dark became a play that toured New Zealand and her second book Is It Bedtime Yet? was another hit.
Emily's social media presence reaches hundreds of thousands, her columns on The Spinoff, her newsletter Emily Writes Weekly and her Facebook posts have been shared around the world.
She is an advocate for community causes - she supports mothers and children and is a volunteer and ambassador for charities supporting parents and families. She runs a charity that provides free ballet classes for children from low income families and children with disabilities ˜Ballet is for Everyone' and is an ambassador for Little Shadow a post-natal depression charity. She works with the Children's Hospital Wellington, The Neonatal Trust, and Perinatal Anxiety and Depression Awareness New Zealand.
