Chelsea Lane is a Performance Therapist with 20 years experience working with elite and professional athletes. Before leaving Aotearoa, Chelsea worked for High Performance Sport New Zealand as the lead sports physio for Athletics New Zealand. Currently, Chelsea is the Head of High Performance for Basketball New Zealand.
Prior to her return to New Zealand, Chelsea was appointed as the Vice President of Athletic Performance and Sports Medicine for the Atlanta Hawks. Her role meant that she was responsible for overseeing the physical and mental wellbeing of her players, as well as the creation and implementation of high performance systems and cultures for the benefit of the team as a whole. During her tenure with the Hawks, the team climbed from the bottom of the table to worthy competitors in the Eastern Conference Finals in three short years.
Prior to this, Chelsea enjoyed the three previous years in the USA working as Director of Performance and Sports Medicine for the Golden State Warriors. In this role she is primarily responsible for the development and implementation of player performance therapy plans. With a focus on the optimization of athletic movement and integration of therapies to facilitate weight room and practice performance, with the ultimate goal of maximising player availability during the season. Each year of this tenure, the team competed in the NBA finals, winning an astounding two NBA championships.
