Anupam Sharma is a filmmaker, speaker, and a commentator. With Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Films & Theatre from UNSW, he speaks on a variety of Australian issues related to diversity in films & media, Australia-India relations, Bollywood, South Asian issues in Australia, and various aspects of films & media.

Current work

With over 250,000 twitter followers on a verified Twitter account, Anupam is a respected commentator and frequent speaker at various conferences and on television programs including the ABC (Radio & TV), the NINE Network, SBS TV, SPAA, Art Gallery of NSW, and the POWERHOUSE Museum. He was one of the thirteen young professionals shortlisted in the prestigious Face To Watch'

series by The (SYDNEY) Magazine.

As Managing Director of Temple - an award winning production and consultancy firm based out of Fox Studios, Sydney, Anupam leads a team of film professionals, who have worked on more than 244 projects between Australia and India, Denmark, China, and USA, including feature films, television serials, music videos, television commercials and film festivals. He directed a highly successful series of Australian television commercials “Jhappi Time” for Destination NSW. With a roll out throughout 2014-15, the commercials comprise one of the largest investments the State has made in India. He was commissioned by the Australian National Maritime Museum to direct the first ever documentary on Indian Aussies which he titled Indian Aussies – terms & conditions apply Most recently, he directed the much publicized feature film, unINDIAN starring cricket legend, Brett Lee.

Previous experience

Film: In 2013 Anupam was appointed Head of the recently established Australian India Film Fund and was nominated as one of the 50 most influential professionals in the Australian film industry. In 2012 he was the chief judge and advisor to the first India-centric Australian reality television show on SBS - Bollywood Star. He has been the ambassador of the biggest south Asian festival in Australia – Parramasala in 2014 and 2015 and an Australia Day Ambassador for 2013, 14, 15, and 16

In 2011 Anupam launched the Australian Film Initiative to market and promote Australian screen culture in non-traditional markets, resulting in India's first annual Australian Film Festival with support from Hugh Jackman in 2011, a Baz Luhrmann retrospective in 2012/2013, and Phillip Noyce retrospective in 14-15. With development investment from Screen Australia and Screen NSW, Anupam is currently developing a slate of high profile Indian Australian film projects with major Australian filmmakers including Bill Bennett and John Winter. His other credits include heading up production on most of the high budget Bollywood films shot in Australia, advising many government and private bodies in relation to Indian films, including Baz Luhrman's Moulin Rouge, Channel Seven, the Department of Foreign Affairs (Australia), and World Movies among others.
