Allyson Gofton is a kiwi cooking icon, most well-known for fronting Food in a Minute during the 90s and early 2000s.
Allyson began her career in food writing after training as apprentice Chef in Tasmania and completing further culinary studies in London (alongside Tui Flower QSM) at the NZ Women's Weekly in the early 1980s.
After a short and slightly mis-guided stint as an Air New Zealand air hostess, Allyson returned to her first love food! She furthered her skills base by studying nutrition, journalism, and working a varied career path with each job contributing to a wider knowledge and understanding of food, including; production, cooking, health, communication, food-styling and marketing.
She enjoyed stints as CEO at the NZ Nutrition Foundation, Account Manager for advertising agency FCB, Public Relations manager at the 5-star Carlton Hotel and all the while undertaking her dream job as Food Editor for NEXT and later REAL magazine.
Allyson has written over 30 cook books with her most popular and successful books being the Food in a Minute collection and her three baking books; The Great New Zealand Baking Book, BAKE & The Bakers Companion.
